Lawn care in Bailey Farms
Bailey Farms is the new community going in on SE Ranson Rd, right up the road from me, next to East Trails Middle School and Happy Tails Park. If you just moved into a new build here, I can take your first-year lawn from builder-grade sod to something worth the new-house photos. Call or text 816-674-8789.

See detailsNew sod needs different care
Bailey Farms is planned at over 250 new homes across three phases, including the Manor at Bailey Farms section with its clubhouse, pool, pickleball courts, and trails. That means a lot of first-year lawns. New sod is not the same as an established yard: it wants a higher cut while the roots knit in, sharp blades so young grass is sliced instead of torn, and a gentle touch with the edger along fresh driveways and curbs. Scalp a first-year lawn in July and you will be looking at the seams between sod rolls until next spring.
That is the care I set up for new builds here: weekly mowing at the right height, light edging that defines the lines without chewing them, and honest advice on watering if you want it.
The closest lawn guy you will find
I am based minutes from the Bailey Farms entrance, in the same corner of southeast Lee's Summit. Your street is not a detour for me; it is practically my route home from the dog park.
Questions people ask
My lawn is brand-new sod. When should mowing start?
Once it has rooted enough that you cannot lift a corner, usually two to three weeks after install, and the first cuts should be high. I check rooting before the first mow rather than tearing up fresh sod on a schedule.
Do you work with builder-installed lawns?
Yes. Most Bailey Farms yards are new sod over graded soil, and the first season of care determines whether the seams disappear or stay visible.
Do you also cover snow here?
Yes. New concrete, take it easy on the salt the first winter: I clear with shovel and blower and go light on ice melt on first-year driveways.
