Leaf cleanup
In the fall I clear leaves off your lawn and out of your beds and haul them away. Not blown into the street, not pushed onto the neighbor's side of the fence. Cleared and gone.
What's included
-
The whole lawn Leaves off the turf before they mat down and smother it.
-
Beds and corners The spots where leaves pile up: along fences, in bed corners, against the foundation.
-
Hauled away Bagged and gone with me, or staged for city pickup if you prefer.
Why it is worth doing before winter
A layer of wet leaves left on cool-season grass through winter blocks light and traps moisture against the blades, which is how you end up with dead patches and snow mold in March. Lee's Summit neighborhoods with mature trees, and there are a lot of them, drop enough leaf volume that one cleanup in late fall usually is not enough. I typically do a mid-fall pass and a final pass after the trees finish.
Questions people ask
When should leaves be cleaned up in Lee's Summit?
Twice is the honest answer for yards with mature trees: once mid-fall when the drop is heaviest, and a final pass in late November or early December after the trees finish. A single early cleanup just fills back in.
What do you do with the leaves?
They leave with me, or I can stage them for city compost pickup if you would rather.
Do you clean gutters too?
Ask me. Single-story gutters I can usually handle as an odd job; two-story roofs I will pass on and say so.
